Psychological Consequences
Facing an unplanned pregnancy is stressful in and of itself. Dealing with the psychological ramifications of your actions, terrifying. Every woman is different and not all will experience the same emotions. It's important to remember that your mental health is as important as your physical health. To help you understand your emotions and make sure the choice you are making is right for you; speak to a certified counselor or other neutral party. During this sensitive and stressful time, you may find that you can no longer confide in the people you once could due to a difference in beliefs. Abortion raises many emotions and controversy. It's important to respect other people's views, but when it comes to yourself, you and only you can decide what is appropriate for your situation. Therefore, finding a neutral party to help you explore all of your options in an unemotional and educated manner is essential to your future psychological well being.

Some of the emotions you may face prior to the abortion may include any or all of the following. These emotions are entirely normal and healthy. If, however, you begin to feel depressed, despondent or unfeeling speaking to a mental health care professional may be beneficial.

- Resentment
- Fear
- Anxiety
- Shame
- Guilt
- Loneliness or Isolation
- Doubt
