So we have Hellgate London on my desk at last! I have been waiting for my friend Tiny to burn a copy of the patch to a disk for a while now and its about time I got to play this game! It has been sitting there quietly and patiently for the last month since I purchased it. Time to give it some love methinks.
Right so as you already know I have installed it and can't play online without this patch that you get from the website no less. However the website has an error and won't display the patch saying Error 404 OMG! I have bought a new game installed it and the patch won't download and thus I can't play the game! What is going on? So anyways I have the patch at last, down to business.
The game loads up and hey create an account! Easy enough enter the details etc etc. Once done you can play the game! Rock and roll, registration complete I eagerly log in HOLD ON... streaming content... here we go again more patches, more updates more of everything! An hour or so later the loading screen disappears and we are sent back to desktop. Ok whats all this about I think to myself. I log in again and once again I am confronted with streaming content great game this! Right so the content has finished streaming to me, game loads yey! I at once create any old character, all I want is to play this game!
Game starts oh yes! My character spawns and is covered in the briefly invincible shield common to many games, it lasts for a few seconds and I am away! I run down the dark alley and shoot a few zombies, wicked! Just what I need after a hard days work. I am happy now I have gibbed a couple of zombies and I didn't get a scratch in the process, plus they exploded! Awesome!
So we come across the rather lovely chap called Murmur he is our main contact point through the first part of the game he gives you a mission and away we go! Off to save a Templar Knight. Great stuff! This is the sort of thing we all love.
Ok so the graphics arent spot on but they are more than adequate for splattering zombies and various demons all over the streets of London. The style and even the music will be very familiar to the Diablo 1+2 fans amongst you some levels being almost carbon copies albeit 3D carbon copies of well loved areas in Diablo.
The instanced areas similar to Guild Wars are yours to explore by yourself or with a team. This makes for a very nice personal experience to the game something I personally enjoy alot, I don't want other high level players strolling through and obliterating everything
