The Holocaust was a well documented and horific page in history. The pages of history book for the last 60 years have been adorned with countless pictures of the attrocities that occured during these times.
To say that it is a myth is like saying the Ancient Eygyptians didn't exist, of course they did! If they had not existed why do we have pyramids? Giant structures like that don't magic themselves out of thin air! This is the same as pictures and accounts of the Holocaust.
However, there is another side to this other than the accounts of people who were there, other than the numerous pictures and the proof of the places actually existing. The other side is that some people may have thought that to dehumanise Hitler and his regiem would be to put themselves on the morale highground. "Why would anyone do this?" I here you ask. Well aside from the horrors the Nazis committed we committed some of our own, the bombing of innocent villages, towns and cities, the rape of women across the continent and the rounding up by the Russians of men women and children to be caged, tortured and finally executed for supporting the Germans. These are just a few reasons for people to make up something such as the Holocaust, to take the spotlight away from the rather terrible things that we did ourselves.
There are many views to be taken into account however, the views of the veterans that served in the Second World War that did not experience any of the things, that it not to say however that they did not happen. While the people that did witness them may be stretching the truth or even forgetting what actually happened. After all the men that served at that time are all very old now and the human memory is proven to degrade over such long terms. This again can be argued against by people that would say "Such a life changing event as war would never be forgotten" This is true but people can fool themselves into thinking they were in the right or that they did all they could do at the time.
Many sides of the story can be read in many books, many things can be said, repeated or even changed in TV documentaries and many things can be descerned from pictures and illustrations.
The best thing in my mind is to look at the facts:
There were camps that dehumanised people (race, colour and religion aside) if the Holocaust had not happened, where did all these malnourished people come from? War is harsh upon a country but would an estabilishment really go to the lengths of interviewing people who had physical problems, malnourishment and other frailties for the use of propaganda? Some would say "Yes" I personally doubt this would happen. This again comes back to the point of this may have happened but would it happen everywhere?
Prisoners of war were treated with respect and dignity, is this true or were all those many soldiers lying in their interviews? Were they tortured? Maybe and again maybe, depends on the views of the people you are interviewing I would have thought. Some may have been treated well others may not.
The actual buildings were often destroyed after being discovered due to their unsanitary conditions and the sheer use they were put to. Is this part of this elaborate cover story for there being a "Holocaust" again why would you keep them around after seeing such suffering? I would have ordered the places burnt to the ground too! Maybe in some places and maybe not. These estabilishments were never just outside a town afterall, they were hidden away from the general population so as not to cause alarm.
If everything else fails, go with whatever you think is best even if the facts fail you, hey it's what humanity has been doing for thousands of years!
