The benefits of yoga

breath deeply in and out to release all the physical and emotional toxins out of your system. While you twist and breath, fresh oxygen is circulated into your body to nourish you.

Another use for yoga is mind-body awareness. As you do more and more of the poses you become more conscious of your body and how it works. Take the time to understand what parts of your body are being used and how. In doing this you will understand your bodies signs of trouble and find a balance that you are missing now. For example, when in a twist pose, do you feel the tension in your back? Yes, that's because you are completely still and aware of the feelings your back has. Now tell yourself to relax those muscles that are tight. Take the time to breath and relax into the pose. Do you notice the difference after that? As you practice more and more, you will notice your feelings changing. As you learn how to breath into a move, you learn how to let go of everything else. This is the beginning of meditation. Meditation is a higher state of consciousness. During this state of concentration we let go of all the negative thoughts and feelings we have. Only then can we learn to let go of those thoughts and feelings that are holding us back. When we accomplish this we find ourselves surrounded in peace and quiet.

You get the workout you want as well as other health benefits. Being in touch with your whole body can make you feel amazing. If you find the moves hard just don't give up. Everything takes practice. With yoga you have the tools in your hand to find the balance you are missing in your life. Heal the parts of your body that are calling out for more attention. Calm your nerves after a long hard day. Go ahead and give it a try. Turn on some music, light a candle, and start slowly.
