Reflections: An average middle class US Citizen's views on issues

According to a recent debate on Helium regarding politics and faith...61% voted that their faith is a priority when voting for candidates in an election. Only 39% voted that a candidates religious faith should have no impact on political issues of this country. I was one of the 39% that voted against an American citizens decision as to whom they should vote for based on faith. Does this mean I am against religious freedom, absolutely not. I am against religious tyranny.

This country was founded on freedom's including the freedom of religion. My deepest concern after discovering that 61% voted that a candidate running for a position of leadership would allow their religion as their agenda for capturing votes seems rather unconstitutional and disrespectful to the American people . Religious faith has little to do with a potential candidate ability to effectively uphold his or her political position. To vote for a political candidate based on religious faith is endangering the freedoms that we cherish.

Apparently the issues we face in America are not as important as religious faith from a candidate running for election. "Beware of sheep in wolves clothing." Just because one proclaims to be religious, does not mean they are. Anyone running for office who uses God or any other deity as a method for campaigning are really not very concerned about the issues we face in the United States of America.

There are many average middle class US citizens who do not even know what the issues are. Many average middle class citizens are more concerned about job security, and are often Christians who believe that a political candidate who goes to church every Sunday with Bible in hand are to be trusted. A brief look down memory lane in which there were evangelists who stood on their pulpit apologizing publicly for there many indiscretions should assure many middle class Americans that proclaiming their faith and actually walking the walk are two different animals. Another glimpse down memory lane in which many Presidents also allowed their weakness for lust should remind the average middles class American that faith does not mean anyone is perfect. Imperfections that can strike the most faithful is the reason that religion should have nothing to do with political issues.

For the average middle class US citizen, above average or the lower class citizen based on wealth and living conditions have an obligation to there country to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America . Lets not forget how many lives have been lost in order to preserve our freedoms. Preserving our freedoms is the main issue that all Americans should be concerned with.
