As in all other forms of writing, the number one rule of thumb for writing Christian articles is to write what you know. Prayer, bible study, reading the works of other Christian writers, attending church, listening to sermons and a variety of Christian music are a start. What's even more important when writing Christian articles is your faith, your relationship with Christ, and living according to God's word. Anybody can talk the talk. Being able to walk the walk is the key to Christian writing.
The entire purpose of writing Christian articles is to share your faith journey, to edify and encourage other believers, to reach non-believers, and to encourage those who may be faltering. Have you learned an important truth through your struggles? New believers or those who are questioning their faith need to hear how you made it through that valley and reached the mountain top. Did you experience a time when your faith felt flat and without excitement? You can tell others how an unexpected lesson taught to you by a Christian coworker helped you regain your joy. Show people who are drifting through life without purpose or direction where you were before you discovered a life filled with joy and meaning based on God's truth. Reach out to those who feel unlovable, as if they have no value, who believe they are unforgivable. Paint a picture for them of God's redeeming grace, the salvation He offers all of us, the unbelievable love of Jesus' sacrifice for our salvation.
People need to know they're not alone, to see where others have walked in their shoes and know what they're going through. We live in a society of cynics who want proof before they believe. As Christian writers we can show others how to survive and thrive in an immoral and corrupt world. We can demonstrate how God's love and Jesus' sacrifice make it easier to deal with the trials and tribulations we deal with on a daily basis. So many people are unaware of the fact we live in a world filled with miracles and blessings, if only they know where to look. As Christian writers we have the ability to show the world how to be grateful and content in all circumstances.
If you write Christian articles filled with praise and thanksgiving, with the intent to share the glory of a life lived according to His teachings, you'll do more than just write an eye-catching article. You'll achieve the satisfaction that comes from knowing you've helped to spread the gospel, and touched more than a few lives by sharing your knowledge and experience. Using the gifts and talents God has blessed you with, to share His teachings, has rewards that go well beyond fame and fortune - they're eternal!
