If the Spring/Summer 2008 fashion shows last fall were any indication, eclectic looks will be seen in the sidewalks as translated from the catwalks. It will be the season of contractions. Romanticism of the soft gauzy fabrics will vie with the edge of the boy cut suits. Color pallets will range from neutral tones to bold hues. We will see floral prints as well as ethnic inspired patterns- such as the African batik. As far as dresses go, hemlines will go from floor grazing lengths to shockingly thigh high. Lets take a look at this spring's most coveted items.
THE MAXI FROCK
Revived from the seventies era, there is a sense of effortless grace to the maxi frock. Reminiscent of John Paul Young's "Love is in the Air", the look evokes a nostalgia for that time. It's apparent that the designers, from Roberto Cavalli to Dolce & Gabbana, were a little nostalgic when they recreated the maxi. Even Diane Von Furstenberg has strayed away from her famous wrap dresses this spring to create long flowing dresses in bold colors. Worn with chunky high heels, this is a delightful variation from your regular short jean skirt often sported in the weekends.
THE MINI DRESS
As an alternative to the maxi frock, show off your stems in this spring season's sexy mini dress. Weather it comes in a pretty floral print or African batik, it's guaranteed to be a hit. For a night out in town, stop traffic in Versace's bright yellow number paired with strappy high heeled sandals and a clutch bag.
FASHION AT WORK AND BEYOND
Some of the men's inspired suits will be perfect for work. Try a long blouse, fitted blazer with straight cut pants. The streamlined look of the blazer will balance the volume of the long flowy blouse. High waisted pants will also be back for another season. Paired with a structured blazer-it's the ultimate classic look. Think Katharine Hepburn. Inspired by the Skinny Jeans, the skinny pant is also a great option for work. Balance the silhouette with a long tunic top and add a thin belt to define the waist. These looks will take you straight into the evening as well. Just lose the blazer and add some chunky bracelets and hoop earrings.
SWIMWEAR
Becca, Betsey Johnson, Red Carter and Shan have all incorporated Lycra into their swimwear collections. The addition of Xtra Life Lycra fiber in swimsuits helps retain the shape of the fabric and offers a better fit for women of any size and shape. With this miracle fabric, many women will be pleasantly surprised at how well they look in a
