Sudan: Struggle for peace

genocide! Right now, China's refusal to assist in stopping the crisis in Darfur via embargo, or with peacekeeping troops, has prevented any definitive action to be taken by the UN security council. But isn't the US the strongest nation in the world? Don't we have a responsibility to protect these people's lives? Don't we have a moral obligation to humanity to not only speak out when this injustice happens, but to do something about it?

As many as 300,000-400,000 people have been killed in Darfur. Alone and unaided, the innocent refugees of Darfur are pursued everywhere they may run to by the constant, unceasing threat of murder, torture rape, and malnutrition. Only around 7,000 soldiers are currently in Darfur staffing refugee camps. And where are they from? None other than the defamed mercenary company Blackwater USA. Everyone must realize the horror that this genocide is bringing about! World leaders need to unite to bring about a stop to this. By fully staffing and defending safe-zones for refugees, they can provide a safe haven for the victims, until a trade embargo can be effected upon the Sudan to bring a full stop to this. Establishing a lasting peace in Darfur should be the UN's, and US's #1 priority. Placing the lives of human beings over the worth of oil should be a no-brainer. So take a stand. Stop the Genocide. Save a life.
