- Try not to go for heavy beading which will only weigh your dress down
- For a dress to suit most body shapes choose an A line style in strapless or halter
- Mid length or ankle length rather than floor length is much more suited to a beach wedding,
especially if you are wearing flat shoes or going barefoot
- Choose practical shoes if any. Heels are a big no no. Flats, sandals or bare feet will all
be easy to walk in.
If you like the idea of going barefoot at your ceremony but feel this will be TOO casual for what you want, you may want to consider the 'barefoot sandal'. An alternate to sandals they are made usually with pearls or colored glass and are also known as 'foot jewelery'.
For accessories, think simple with flowers, shells and pearls. Flowers can be used as a hair accessory, bracelet, anklet, brooch or anything else you can think of. Baby breath, wild roses and hibiscus go well to fit in with the beach theme. A simple shell necklace would also look stunning.
If you are considering a long veil or train, consider opting for a short sweep veil instead and no train. The length of a traditional veil and train isn't suitable for the beach as it will most likely be trodden on or whipped around by the wind, ending up in a tangled mess. A tiara or a halo of small crystals will also suit the occasion.
The Groom should be aware that the same rules apply to him when it comes to attire. A lightweight suit is much more practical in the heat and if it will be sunny, a light color would look good as well. A summer linen suit would be easy to transport and keep your groom cool. If you are going really casual for the wedding, the groom could wear a linen loose fitting shirt and trousers.
What you choose to wear to your wedding depends on your own ideas and the overall theme on the day. The day should be one which is unique and special so tailer it to your own tastes and ask a lot of opinions from a trusted friend or relative.
