Beach weddings (otherwise termed as 'destination' weddings) can be absolutely breathtaking.
The beauty and uniqueness of a ceremony on the beach are lots of fun for your guests as well as for yourself, and you can even choose themes such as Hawaii or Seashells . A beach themed wedding dress should ideally be light and airy and as an added incentive - you can even go barefoot!.
If you are leaning towards a beach wedding you will have already realized that you will need a less than traditional type of wedding dress. Being in a more outdoors setting, consideration will need to be taken for the sand, water and other elements of nature.
Beach wedding dresses need to be light, comfortable and be able to complement the natural scene of your wedding. You can choose how casual you would like your day to be. You could opt for loose fitting clothes, suit pants and top or a floaty, slinky dress. It is very important to consider what the weather will be like and then look to dress accordingly.
Sarongs can make a beautiful wedding garment if you are looking for something quite casual and laid back. Choose a natural silk jacquard fabric and team with a tummy baring halter top(if you dare to bare) or a scarf top. This outfit is still classy while also being cool and carefree. If there is a bit of a breeze you can add a shawl for added comfort.
A light filmy strapless or halter dress is also an excellent choice for a beach wedding.
You may also look at buying a wedding dress from formal and dress shops, second hand shops, in fact any shop which contains dresses or skirts/tops which you feel would be appropriate for you. Sometimes a simple way to get exactly what you want is to either make the dress yourself, or get someone else to make it for you.
For stockists and/or designers who sell less formal, yet elegant and stunning designer wear see Lisa Ho, Collete Dinnegan, Stellini, Simona, Clarissa Grace, Studibaker, Alfred Angelo or Mr K. If you are on more of a budget, David Jones and Myers sell some casual yet formal dresses and outfits which may suit.
There is absolutely no need to limit yourself to only one design either. Stick to your own uniqueness and be true to yourself. Dresses can still have sequins and sparkles if you wish, they could be elegant and simple, you could also theme yourself in attire which is more 'beachy' which may include bikinis and a wrap.
