Presidential candidate Barrack Obama speaks on the war in Iraq

"Vote for me! I don't like the War in Iraq. Republicans like the War in Iraq. I don't like Republicans. So a vote for me is a vote against everything the Republicans like!"

That's basically what I hear whenever Senator Obama mentions the Iraq War. Just like John Kerry before him he's running on the "Vote for me because I'm not them" platform. He keeps talking about how if elected he'll created this miraculous plan that will allow US servicemen and women to return home but, he has yet to give us any real details.

Is he waiting until he's in the Oval Office to give us every step of his ingenious plan or does he not have one and is just making the usual empty promises that every candidate makes when running for the White House?

At times I think that Obama (along with so many other detractors of the war) has no real clue into what is involved in removing a military presence from a country. This isn't like just packing up a couple of tents and hopping on a helicopter. No, this is the removal of thousands of troops and billions of dollars of equipment. The logistics alone in trying to plan this kind of pull out would take years to accomplish. Of course, he knows that the Average American doesn't know this and he's playing off of their overall ignorance and whatever the latest polls tell him will sound good.

This is also leaving a fledgling political ally open to invasion from any number of surrounding nations.

I find it so amusing that Senator Obama keeps referring to this war as "expensive". If he actually looked up the financial numbers he'd see that this is one of the LEAST expensive wars the US has ever fought in it also has one of the lowest casualty ratings. Of course, if he revealed those numbers to the ignorant public he wouldn't be able to make it sound like the greatest tragedy to ever befall the American people.

Here's something else he's going to have to deal with when/if he gets elected: The Iraqi people are officially his responsibility when he takes office. If he decides to pull out and all of a sudden they're invaded by Iran, Turkey, Syria, or anyone of their other neighbors it will be HIS fault.

He won't be able to blame the Republicans for it, no matter how much he might want to.
