Guild Wars Nightfall is the best of the three available campaigns. This is because it has deffinate quests and requirements for advancement in the storyline. The game centres on the main story of a long since forgotten God called Abaddon rising once more to power and dominion over mortal realms. He is the master of the previous two evil masterminds (The Liche from the first campaign and the mighty Shiro from the second) he also has his own herald in Varesh his most powerful warrior. These are your foes powerful as they are they will soon quake before the combined power of the alliance you will soon lead against them.
Although not the easiest to get to grips with immediately after install this campaign is very good once you get going and learn how to simply read your quest log. Like the Factions Campaign you can choose one of two paths to go down, both will end up with you needing certain levels of Sunspear and the Lightbringer Title tracks however. The story is probably the longest and most stable of the campaigns in that it doesnt jump you all over the map it is a steady progression of winning battles over the continent just like a war of attrition would be.
Once again we are introduced to two new playable professions in the form of the Dervish another close combat specialist and the Paragon another support another support profession but with the added bonus of higher armour allowing them to get on the frontline.
The Dervish is an enchantment heavy, form changing, whirling ball of death. Weilding a scythe with which he or she can hit multiple opponents. The forms take the shape of the main Gods which inhabit the world, Melandru, Balthazar, Dwayna, Lyssa and Grenth each with different powers over the others different strengths and weaknesses. This type of character unlike the Assassin introduced in Factions is happy to take lots of damage and shrug it off. This is done with fast regeneration of energy, allowing self healing spells to be cast when needed, augmenting active enchantments and powers. The Dervish is the master of the form and as such is the only character capable of maintaining a form change for any great deal of time.
The Paragon is the battlefield angel, a being wearing pure white armour singing and chanting across the field of battle boosting morale (figuratively) imbuing powers, healing and strength to the members of his or her party while smiting the enemy with spear attacks and powerful anthems that give attributes such as burning to all friendly members of his team. A master of leadership the paragon gains energy when chanting and starting anthems this allows for quick adrenaline to energy conversion and makes them proficient healers in PvP.
This expansion to the Guild Wars world is essential for PvP and is also a great story and adventure all rolled into one. Well worth the asking price on eBay on at your local game store. I highly recommend this title to players of the Guild Wars game already (in which case they will porbably have it) and new players alike.
I give it "Excellent" not just because of the PvP additions in the Dervish and Paragon skills but the storyline and the large well designed map.
