When you are sick, hospitalized and unable to chew even on your favorite food, that is to say the time when people would instantly bring verities of food for you to eat. They brought for you a lot of biscuits, sweets, chocolate and fruits, when the doctor just told you to avoid those foods. At time you have to fast prior to the operation and the food, food and food arriving with non-stop. But, it is alright; I'll be glad to wallop the food during the recuperating period or when I am fully recovered.

I've been hospitalized on many occasions. Sometimes I was warded for more then a week. While staying in the hospital one would not have the appetite to eat. Life is so boring. You have to much of free time to strongly think and feels the throbbing pain. I would gladly welcome a gift of magazines and books as this would take my mind off the pain. While a bouquet of flowers would definitely brighten the ward. Its sweets scent is also very refreshing. A bouquet of flowers would definitely brighten up the gloomy ward. No wonder for ages people has been sending flowers to the sick and hospitalized person.

One day, I was fast asleep on a hospital bed, in the afternoon after lunch. I was awakened by the noise of my next bed patient, an old man in his fifty. I sat up to see what was going on. The old man was crying like a baby and at the same time trying to control his voice praying. Its sound liked a howling.

A pastor was reading or whispering rather; trying not to disturb other patients in the same ward. They were praying together from some verses of the bible. The old man seems to be very happy and peaceful after the pray. After the pastor left, the old man told me that he is very happy to know that besides GOD, there are a lot of people around who cares and concerns for him and wish him to get well soon.

I believe this is the best gift (solemn prayer) a visitor can positively give to a patient when they see them at the hospital. They need a lot of moral support and encouragement to get cured from their illness. Some other things that would be appreciated by the patient are vitamin C and any other health product. Soft toys and story books are mostly likened by the children.
