How to incorporate exercise on your next vacation

People will envisage two types of vacation; the holiday where your maximum stress level will be getting up in the morning and lying on a sun-soaked beach (with a pleasant mix of retail therapy), or the action packed, fun filled getaway where you do not want to waste a minute of your "free" time and participate in a wide array of pastimes.

Wherever your own principles lie, the ability to incorporate simple exercises need not be alarming or disassociate from having fun and enjoying a deserved holiday, and a break from the chores of daily life.

We all like to take care of our bodies and health, even if we are tempted to "let ourselves go" on vacation and give in to certain temptations; "I am allowed that extra dessert because I deserve it." We can also continue our emphasis on looking after ourselves, combined with the need to take time out.

You can usually find a range of activities at your destination that can provide ample and fun forms of exercise.

* Sightseeing. The gentle stroll of discovering other cultures and history. Walking around provides an ideal cardiac workout, without you necessarily realizing. Once your mind is absorbed in the fascinating alternative surroundings you have combined a need for a break with simple exercise.

* A stroll along the beach at sunset as the sun shimmers on the horizon. A picturesque moment to make memories. If you feel able a jog along the beach to capture the sun rise.

* A gentle swim in the ocean or resort pool to invigorate and refresh.

* A hike in the woods, breathing in the fresh mountain air.

* A round of golf or a game of tennis (Remember to be easy with the competitiveness as you are on vacation).

* A slow ski or snow board down the glistening white snow.

* Shopping - Somewhat debatable as to the energy levels required for this holiday pastime. Can prove very tiring.

It is amazing how these activities can be so rewarding and relaxing, but still provide you with an aerobic exercise. An ideal combination of a calming, beneficial nature.

Holiday resorts usually provide access to a gym, so if that is what you prefer you can make full use of the facilities on offer, but lifting weights and being indoors on a strict routine is not an ideal image for everyone during their vacation.

An alternative idea is using a simple exercise routine that you can undertake on your own, or with family, at a favorite time of day. You may have your own routine or an ideal, simple ten minute plan can be found at:

Simply enter a search for 'vacation exercise' and you will be provided with information for an ideal routine to take away on vacation. Simple, and stress free.

It is probably correct to mention diet on vacation. A sore point to some, with restrictive choices compared to home life, but you can try to combine a relatively healthy balance. Sample those delights but avoid the over excesses.

Always remember that you are taking a well deserved vacation to recuperate and that is the most important factor to consider. You are allowed to unwind and break free from your usual routine, before you return to your normal life.
