Devils fan). The only argument I am willing to accept is Yankees vs. Red Sox. No other rivalry is as big as this one, case closed. Ever since Roy Williams took over the head job at UNC, the rivalry has reached its peak. I really don't see how it could ever get bigger. Both schools have rabid fan bases, both are huge draws nationally, and after last years Gerald Henderson cheap shot on Tyler Hansborough, these teams officially hate each other. When these two meet on Feb. 6th, you definitely want to be in front of a TV.
Chapter 4 PASSION
No, I'm not talking about the Mel Gibson movie. The reason college basketball, much like college football, is so intriguing is the passion and intensity the teams play with. The NBA has for the most part become a slow paced one on one type league. College Basketball couldn't be more different. I guarantee you in any given game you will see all of the following occur:
1) There will be multiple charges taken
2) Someone will slap the floor on the defensive end when the home crowd is fired up.
3) Bodies will hit the floor on nearly every loose ball
4) Three point shots will rain from all over the place
5) Ball movement will be a key part of the game
If you can't enjoy watching a game with those factors, then you just aren't a fan of pure sports.
I did have a 5th chapter before the season started and it would have been titled Dickie V. Much like John Madden, it just feels like a bigger game when Dickie V is involved. Unfortunately, he had throat surgery right before the start of the season and has not been able to call any of the games. I guess Jay Bilas and Steve Lavin will have to do. I think you are now officially ready to watch some college basketball. Rivalry week kicks off the day after the Super Bowl so you are just in time for the good stuff.
