When was the last time you sat down and watched a leaf blow around in the soft breeze? Can you remember the last time you saw a bird ? What kind of bird was it? Within every moment of life are the answers that any person will ever need to have. However, if you are like most people, regardless of what your job is, at days end you sigh and are thrilled that day is over. The hectic lives of today do not give us the remembrance to stop and listen. To look around and take in the moments. There is an old saying that life is not a destination it is a journey.
Stop for a moment as you read this, what is your body language saying to you? How are you sitting? What thoughts are racing through your mined? Why did you pick the color of your shirt today? By slowing down just for a few moments and answering those couple of questions, you have already begun to see the clues to the answers you are looking for. It is not some big "secret" that will change the way you think or feel, it is understanding the true you in the now.
To understand the true you, it is merely a matter of slowing down to look at the present moment. The key lies in how you choose to express yourself right now. The way you choose will reflect your past actions, but it will also set in motion your future actions. How many of stop and come to the realization that each moment that passes has a profound effect upon our lives. The decisions we make, the lack of making a decision, and the ignoring the decision to circumvent it.
Even though the clues given in each moment may at first seem so insignificant, when learning to slow down will not only allow you to appreciate the moment but also to think about the choices and resulting action of the choices. But that is only part of the gift of slowing down. The other half of the gift is that it will teach you to seek out and find your own answers and establish a healthy grateful being upon which you can continue to grow and expand upon.
Every moment in time, regardless of how mundane you may think it is, hides a key to unlocking our gifts. By slowing down and just taking a deep breath inward, we can learn to enjoy the moments rather than endure them.
