Today, liquid helium has critical uses in supercooling, the next generation of modern technology. It makes many big country eyes, like Russia was very interesting at helium industry, especially in medicine where it cools electromagnets for magnetic resonance imaging of element. This liquid helium was very useful for both commercial or research use. You can take a look at helium uses.
Helium was so useful for
1. Production of materials for computer chips that we use everyday in our computers.
2. Making fiber optics that was used primarily for communication purposes like fastest internet connection.
3. As a shielding gas in arc welding
4. As a filler or tracer gas and as coolant for commercial and research application's purpose.
5. For floating balloons
And many important purposes.
This make sense why helium has been produced in commercial quantities at few other sites around the world, like Russia. We can take a look for World helium production at 2006, Russia takes 4th position for 7 million cubic meters has been produced at that year.
Although the largest world helium production was in US, there's many chance for Russia to explore it. Helium present to some measurable degree in natural gas , usually goes unnoticed. There's a lot of helium can be found and produced in economically attractive quantity there, this helium can be extracted by cryogenic separation that was popular. A lot of helium is ready to get separated from natural gas but there's many natural gas resources don't aware with that economic value.
The helium industry in Russia is promised because there's still many natural gases there. If Russia puts together their helium projects with natural gas projects, it will bring developments in the helium markets in Russia. I understand too that Russia have many uranium resources, and helium is a direct result of radioactive decay.
If Russia government eyes at helium industry in Russia widely open, I think that for just some years, Russia will be a biggest world helium production in the world, when other countries with helium-production capacity have stumbled in attempts to increase the world supply, it was a big chance to Russia.
