To sojourn to some new wilderness and forget all of your worries is a very beautiful thing indeed, and there are so many gorgeous places around the United States that are worth going to that it would seem silly not to at least venture forth once and unwind. The key for a nature excursion is being prepared. Though one can't be nearly prepared enough for the plethora of curve balls nature could throw, it would at least be useful to know a few locations that would provide a most wonderful experience of detachment from society, or simple relaxation.

So just unwind, and spend some quality time with Mother Nature.

Deep Southwest Texas, lie the Chisos Mountains and the Pecos River , both of which are contained in an area known as Big Bend. This refers to the mostly northward bend in the Rio Grande as it cuts through Texas.

Big Bend harbors such a wild combination of marvels and climates and wildlife that you have to experience it to believe it. Big Bend National Park is the ideal location for a getaway, though it is nearly impossible to sojourn through Big Bend National Park as a whole, as it covers two-hundred and forty-five miles along the border of the Rio Grande, and one thousand two-hundred and fifty-two square miles in its entirety.

Big Bend National Park is a land where the javalena and vultures roam, as it is prominently arid desert areas. Don't be deceived by this guise though, because it also holds some great number of oasis and forest areas, as well as some number of mountainous regions. There is nothing better than camping out in an oasis, with a pine covered mountain range just near it, as well as some serene marshlands on the way. Such beautifully intertwined marvels of nature are unrivaled in its inalienable majesty.

Here you will find the spectacular canyons of Santa Elena, Mariscal, and Boquillas. The various meandering rivers and valleys between such canyons create high and low banks and canyon walls covered with limestone and other various natural materials that catch your eye, as if the canyons blotting out the sky weren't enough. The various extreme climates create an exceptional diversity of plant life and animal habitats. Some vegetation in the park is found no where else in the United States. Some like the Chisos Oak, a lovely variation of Oak that grows along the Chisos Mountains. For a view of nearly the entire bend, try Emory Peak, the highest peak of the Chisos Mountains (about 7,832 feet).

There isn't much like waking up in a desert, hiking through a swamp and a few mountains, and then relaxing later around a campfire in an oasis lit by fireflies and serenaded by all kinds of rare and beautifully singing birds. Such a day would always have new things to offer, none of which will be disappointing.
