Eating healthy super foods is well worth your time and effort. With some simple planning you can eat three nutritious meals plus several healthy snacks each day to create a strong immune system and boost your overall health.
Snacks-
Almonds provide your body with calcium and magnesium plus they are an excellent source of protein. Fresh fruits are super foods with numerous vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that improve your body's defense system. Incorporate an assortment of colorful raw vegetables in your diet at meals and when snacking. Vegetables such as baby carrots, mini red or yellow peppers, broccoli and celery are all nutritious foods that keep your immune system on track. Give your veggies a little zip by dipping them into fresh salsa, a low fat healthy snack. Purchase water bottles to carry along with your throughout the day or purchase a durable plastic water bottle available at sports stores. Having water ready and available will prevent the temptation to buy sodas or sugary juices.
Mealtime-
At meal time, be sure to steam your vegetables in a steamer to enhance their flavor and guarantee all the nutrients. Eat 2 to 3 servings of protein (5 to 7 ounces) daily including; beans, nuts, lean cuts of chicken or fish. For best health benefits and taste prepare your meat or fish by broiling, baking or steaming. Make sure to eat 2 to 3 servings of dairy each day. Yogurt is another wonderful super food that enhances your digestive system. Low fat cheeses are also a great source of protein and calcium in your diet which promotes good strong bones and teeth. Grains such as wheat, rice and flax are beneficial sources of the B vitamins. Choose 6 to 11 servings of whole wheat breads, whole wheat rice and whole grain cereals each day for meals or snacking.
Eating healthy, super foods that promote good health involves effort and planning ahead. Choose healthy snacks and incorporating nutritious foods in your meal planning each day will ensure a strong immune system and an overall healthy body. Take into consideration the number of food group servings you consume daily, plus remember to prepare your foods not only to enhance taste but to provide the best nutrition. So choose to live healthy each day, with the super foods for a healthier you.
