bought it to replace Lampard if he did go to Madrid and I still think these two could play together, although, again they are very similar players like Gerrard and Lamps. Joe Cole is one of my favorite Chelsea and England players as he loves to attack the full-backs and draw fouls from them like a traditional 1950s winger did, getting them on yellow cards and so having them in his pocket for the rest of the game. With Essein and Mikel in there the scraps are quickly mopped up with a kick or two and Chelsea have the best midfield of the three for me..
Up front, like United, it has been a one man show, Drogba impressive to say the least at holding the line and powering regular goals. With Anelka along side they could be really deadly next year, if Drogba stays. Interestingly, Drogba has yet to win the Chelsea player of the year. The less said about Schevchenko the better. But it's the defense that wins premiership titles for me and all three are matched equally, the colossus Terry back in the heart of the action for the Blues. This guy would head that American satellite that's burning up in the atmosphere away if the boss told him to. He is the Ron Harris of today for them and a great player to watch. Terry won't be able to better Harris club record of an amazing 795 appearances though. Carvalho is rock alongside Gallas and the arrival of Alex and Belletti have been smart and skillful signings. And let's not forget Bridge finally reestablishing himself as England best left wing-back. With Chec and Cudicini to choose from between the posts then they are near on impregnable. They also have a steely resilience to them, the stoic comeback against Martin O'Neil's impressive young Villa side at Stamford Bridge, from 3-1 down to 4-4 down to preserve the 64 game unbeaten home record is an example of.
