Lose weight quickly: How best to go about it

You want to lose weight, look great, and be healthy... fast.

Guess what? You're just like everyone else. We all want those things. However, take it from me, someone who has spent his entire adult life exercising and dieting to stay fit while competing as an amateur boxer and serving in the military, losing weight has nothing to do with what you really want.

Think about it. Whether you are a woman or a man, you wouldn't care if you weighed four hundred pounds if you looked like Brad Pitt or Jessica Alba. So, it's not really about the weight. So why do people jump on those scales and look down with that feeling of anxious hope each morning? Because they need that feeling of accomplishment, even if its only half a pound, to keep them going. Well, the truth is, your weight will fluctuate on a given day by about five pounds just from what you eat and water retention. So quit looking at the scale and readjust your mindset if you want to look your best and feel your best. I'm about to tell you what you really need to hear.

For starters, you are never going to look like Brad Pitt or Jessica Alba. Recently, a myth has been perpetuated that if you work out correctly, you can 'shape' your body to look however you want. This is not true. All you can really do is decrease stored fat and increase the size of the muscle fibers in your body. And since everyone is born with a genetically set number of fat cells and muscle fibers- and these are placed wherever God wanted them- no matter how you work out you will generally turn out a certain way. Some of you will have huge shoulders and no chest, while others will have enormous pectorals but skinny arms. Some of you may even be like me... I have assymetrical abdominals and my right pectoral muscle is shaped differently than my left. So quit listening to proffesional bodybuilders who get paid to pretend that it was their exercises or supplements that made their chests so square and perfect. It is mostly genetic. Sure, you can make any muscle on your body hard and defined, but you have little control over the shape of the muscle. And if you were born with a small number of muscle fibers in that place, that muscle will lag behind no matter what you do. So quit sweating it. Its really not your fault. You are doing the exercises just fine. And unless you are a model, the members of the opposite sex just want you to be in good physical condition. They will love your assymetric abs just fine... just as long as they can see them!
