It is better to vacation in China than in Japan for westerners traveling to Asia. Some westerners think that Japan is a better place for its culture, food etc, and they think that it is not safe in China.

Actually, it is not true. In China, foreigners are respected, no matter wherever he or she comes from. Chinese are more open-minded that they were 5 or 10 years ago. Chinese are very friendly to westerners. Also, there are many more places to go for your vacation in China than in Japan, because China is much much larger than Japan. Gulin is said to be the nicest place in the world, and also Hangzhou, Suzhou, Jiuzaigou, Tianshan Mountain, Tibet, etc. You can enjoy your traveling much more.
What's more, it is less expensive for your vacation. Since you can meet friendly people, and have many nice places to go, also not expensive, why not have a vacation in China? You can visit the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, and some other places of interests in Beijing, also you can pay a visit to the West Lake in Hangzhou, and the gardens in Suzhou. Hangzhou and Suzhou are said to the "Heaven on earth" in China.

Guilin is another place worth your visit, where is famous for the scenic views of rivers and mountains. Jiuzhaigou, Xishuangbanna, and many other places are nice places for you to pay a visit, too. Talking about Mountains, the famous mountain is Fuji Mountain, while in China, there are Mountain Tai, Emei Mountain, Wutai Mountain, Putuo Mountain, Huangshan Mountain etc. There are too many to name them.

All in all, it is much better to travel in China, though Japan is not a bad place for a visit. We have to think about the safety, and the places which are worth visiting, right? We have to compare with each other to make a conclusion.
