Stylish Diaper Bags...Who knew? Well I remember back when I was becoming a pro at shopping for stylish baby gear and let me tell you, the idea of stylish back in the 80's was a boring yet practical vinyl/plastic thing!

Now days it seems that big and bold are in. If Paris Hilton is to carry her dog in a pink leopard print bag, one would think we could have a stylish baby bag. Now stylish and functional could very well be two different species.

Think about what you will be carrying around, whether it be on a trip to the super market or just a luncheon visit with a friend, there will be items that must accompany these outings. I could tell you stories of the crazy "make-do" items I pulled off, all because I did not have the necessary things with me, or a proper place to store those items.

Cell Phone's, bottles, diapers, changing pad, pacifier, baby wipes, car keys, checkbook, makeup bag, snacks or in my case TUMS. These are everyday, 24/7 items you will find in a normal diaper bag. It is more pleasurable when they are easily accessible too.

Have you ever dug around in a large purse looking for your cell phone, while it rang unbelievably loud in the Doctor's office? A pocket made specifically for your phone would have fixed that. Being able to grab your car keys quickly are another thing to think about, safety and otherwise. So try to find a bag that has an attached key ring or strap.

Some bags have the changing pad attached to them, however I have found those to be useless as baby do-do can have a mind of it's own and limiting yourself to a 2X2 area to clean up on seems a bit redundant to me.

Diapers, we use alot of them, so remember this when purchasing a bag. "room to go" is my motto! Whatever style suits you, bigger is always better, we even tend to buy purses larger these days, even with grown kid's!

A washable fabric is wonderful for those accidental spills or emergency "necessary storage" of a not so nice item. And although leather looks sweet, it does not always hold up to the "elements".

I have found wonderful and affordable bags at places like Baby's R Us and Target that have all the hidden compartments keeping it sleek but roomy all at the same time.
