sleeping husband to get out of bed.
"For the single person, a bed against the wall symbolizes that he or she may not be receptive to a relationship, a state which may or may not be true or which the person may or may not wish to change. For a child, a bed against the wall is beneficial in that it provides an added dimension of support. Likewise a slanted or overhanging eave can create a nurturing space for the young. A child's growing independence may be encouraged by a repositioning of the bed." (page 10) I think this Feng Shui thing may be onto something.
Feng Shui Cures
If you happen to have a beam crossing the bed, that opens up other issues. According to Chin, "Depending on their size and position, overhead beams can have a powerful effect on the area immediately below. Since beams tend to divide spaces, this divisiveness, real or implied, can make one feel uncomfortable. Chinese folklore claims that sleeping under a beam creates problems, such as headaches and distress for the part of the body crossed by the beam." (page 11) "If you cannot rearrange a room so that you do not spend a major amount of time beneath a beam, then you should mitigate the influence of the beam with a feng shui cure." (page 11)
"A cure involves bringing in an object that will alter the energy of a space and create new and beneficial associations in the mind of the occupant."(page 199) "Any cure can have both tangible and intangible components in equal or unequal measure. The interesting thing is that the cures with the least amount of logic are often very effective. Thus, the intangible is not frosting on the cake but a powerful component of the cure. Perhaps that is because an intangible cure requires faith. It is easy, for example, to do something that makes sense to remedy a situation. How many times have we taken a logical step knowing in our heart that it would do no good, and sure enough we were right. On the other hand, taking an intangible or subjective action requires a leap of faith, an assertion of will. That belief, that assertiveness, is very important to the success of a cure." (page 200)
To correct the beam placement, Chin tells us that we have "three choices: to add a canopy to the bed, to hang a single crystal from the beam, or to mount a bamboo flute at either end of the beam." (page 45) Hanging a crystal "on the overhead beam to fragment its energy" (page 45) is the first recommendation. "Traditionally a crystal is hung with red cord or ribbon to mark the auspiciousness
