This kind of question disturbs me because people are living human beings and grant it so people do not always do as their doctor prescribes or instructs, but from my experience I have been to doctor's who do not listen to the patient and what they are experiencing and miss the mark completely when handing out medications and care. I have seen it in the hospitals and clinics I have worked in countless times. Some also assume that because you are large in size you got their on your own by gorging yourself to that point and if you have any health issues it is as a result of this factor only, they do not look any further beyond what they see. I have been a large sized person all my life, I was a large baby and was never thin like my siblings all the years through school and through adulthood. I have been told that most of my problem is genetic and I have tried every kind of diet out there and have found that diets are more my enemy than they are a help. I never recall hearing this kind of question arise years ago, no one seemed to even ask that kind of question, but I imagine our media and news programs have brought it more and more to our minds because of all the reports stating that more and more Americans are gaining weight and this will just cause more stress on the healthcare system and the diet industry has taken a huge turn towards major profits as a result of media reports and predictions. I sometimes think Americans are getting fatter because they are reminded how "bad" they are to have eaten that piece of cake after supper - shame on you! I typically do not ever go see a doctor because I get tired of being berated about my weight and to shape up, many talk to me like I am a child, and I find it very uncaring and disrespectful. In the last 4 years I have gained more weight and I have not changed how I have eaten all these years. I was a healthy large person before this, I could run circles around my sister who has always been thin. But that all changed and I am now gaining weight, retaining water, and having other issues, yet when I express this to my physician she simply says I have to lose weight, lets send you to a nutritionist or dietitian because it has to be what and how you are eating - no other factors could possibly be playing into the weight gain, such
