I've personally known two men who have gone by the route of the mail order bride. Both choose their bride from the Philippines. There stories however took two decidedly different turns. One I shall call John and the other Paul to protect the innocent. I have known John for many years and was surprised to hear that he had ordered a mail order bride, because it was so unusual. I mean how many people do you know that get married by the catalogue?

When I was a boy, I've knew a guy who once tried to order a mail order bride but he went about it all wrong. He used an Eaton's or Sears catalogue to order the woman of his dreams and received a nice dress instead. He may have returned the dress due to the misunderstanding. He had to live down the misadventure under the humor of my good natured uncle. That means the jibbing went on for years and years. All concerned have been dead for years but back to the story. Well we don't know about the fablious catalogue model.

Both John and Paul got themselves a nice Philippine girl. The Philippines are well known for mail order brides. The girls are nice, easily adaptable to "the western culture", and mostly come from traditional families and hold traditional values. The greatest cash export of the Philippines are those who immigrate to other nations. The Philippina immigrants are ones who go and find work in other nations such as USA, Canada, and the European union nations. These hard working immigrants send money back home and support their families in the old country. Some of these immigrants get their immigration papers by the process of marriage.

Marriage for some people is still an arranged affair. For others it is considered a "good fortune" to be picked and married by a foreigner. For some lucky girls it is an easy way to better their lives and for the unfortunate ones it means getting trapped in an abusive and loveless marriage.

For John it ended in a divorce at the mail order brides initiative. When they got divorced and she moved to another city. She had her citizenship. The case of Paul is still happily married to his mail order bride.

Keep in mind that we are dealing with human beings and human relationships. All that means is that you will not and cannot always get your way.
