Here are some of the better freelance writing sites I've come across on the web, after a lot of research and trial-and-error. I highly recommend each of these as potential money making opportunities and you can use each of them to link back to your own website or blog and promote your content there:
-Associated Content-

Associated Content is a great site that will pay you upfront for any articles you submit that they approve. So far I haven't had a single article turned down, but I understand that it does happen. They seem to pay between $3-10 per article and then they also give you performance payments, which is a small amount of money for every time someone views one of your articles. Additionally, they offer a system of recommended topics that they need material on and will pay people to produce.
-MyLot-

MyLot is not so much a freelancing site as it is a paid discussion board. Essentially, on MyLot you fill out a long list of your interests and then you begin conversations with other members regarding those interests and others. MyLot pays you based on a secretive proprietary algorithm, but a safe assumption is that you're paid about 2 cents for everything you do on the site, from looking at an article to posting a response to starting a new discussion. This can add up fast and the site is genuinely fun to use.
-Helium-
http://www.helium. com
Helium is a good site that seems to have a great idea behind it. How it works is simple: to be a part of Helium, you have to rank articles as well as write them. When your articles are rated highly by others, you get paid more per page view. So, you post an article, it gets rated, and the more times someone views it, the more you get paid. Also, they have a lot of traffic that you can try to use towards your benefit, and they can help you get an idea on how your writing is perceived by the public. Helium also posts contests and other forms of money making freelance opportunities, like direct contact with certain publishers.
-Writing Up-
http://www.writingup.net
Wri ting Up is a new paid blogging site that I've recently discovered. Although it really doesn't offer a tremendous amount of traffic yet, it is growing at an exponential rate and is one of the best new opportunities. Also, Writing Up is a great opportunity to drive traffic to from your other blogs, websites, etc, and monetize all that traffic together. This is also a great place to try to get in on the ground floor and
