I don't know exactly
why we are here,
why we are talking and laughing,
spinning the wheels of time.
I don't know why we are human
or why we act the way we do,
why people use violence as one
uses a stepping stone.
I don't know why we deny our lies
when everyone can see the mold
festering on our bodies.
I don't know why we use words
as a shield,
or as a weapon
I don't know why people cry by themselves
when their tears are forming an
ocean around their bodies.
Drowning them slowly.
I don't know why our lips stay silent
Don't know why happiness is only fleeting,
why people hold it as lightly as they
hold a bubble before it bursts.
I don't know why we form a human chain
of delusions and fantasies,
as if we can all fall like dominoes
into the lap of joy.
