Wedding Traditions & Themes

Western wedding theme ideas

There are several ways to do a western themed wedding. First you need to know how traditional you want the wedding or how casual. You can have a pretty traditional wedding with a western twist. Ass for decorations there are ways to change little things for the theme. For instance the candelabra, you need the basic stand and candle holders and some horseshoes. Have someone weld the horseshoes to the candle holders. You can also use rope to decorate the candelabra poles. Makes a nice twist and you still have all your candles. There are gobs and gobs of places that sell the unity candle sets, the serving utensils, and cake toppers with western themes. These can be found in big stores or online. One idea that we used was in using a fake cake and little decorations on top of the layers. One of the stores we visited we found little bitty hay bales and cowboy hats that went on our (fake) cake on the cake table at the reception. Who cared if it made a mess on top, nobody was eating that one they ate sheet cake. Balloons at the reception had a bride and groom with a lasso around them. Both were wearing cowboy hats and boots. We had a stamp made and did our own napkins with the same pattern on the balloons.

For the wedding party, the groomsmen can go full western or somewhat traditional also. The groom, groomsmen, ring bearer, and fathers in our wedding wore the black Wrangler jeans, black boots, black cowboy hats, with the white dress shirts and western tux jackets. The ushers wore the boots, jeans, and a white dress shirt. Another western wedding I have attended was also in a church but they brought in straw bales. They sat on either side of the bride and groom and the bridesmaids and groomsmen sat on the bales. She wore an old fashion western dress with red lace up boots and he was in black jeans, boots, and western shirt and hat. How western you want to go is up to you, but there are several ways to twist a traditional wedding. If you are wanting a full western. I would suggest outside, on a nice hillside under a big shady tree. The bride in old tradional dress and the groom in a western suit.
