The history of Starbucks

The history of Starbucks:

Starbucks is a company that if one follows their plan and applies a different product the business would be successful. The Starbucks plan is easy, and that is what makes it work. Although if even one-step missed and not all steps followed verbatim the Starbucks plan could very easily falter though simple, there are many steps to the plan and everyone has a purpose. (Johnson, 2002)

Three Teachers in 1971:

In 1971, three teachers opened the first Starbucks Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel, and Gordon Bowker. The store opened in Seattle Washington. The name given to the first store they opened was Starbucks Coffee, Tea and Spice. Each of the men paid $1350 and borrowed an extra $5000 to open their new store.

The inspiration for the coffee, tea and spice shop was from a Dutch immigrant that had a shop in Berkeley the three men enjoyed frequenting. The Dutchman considered his coffee a wine taster might think of their wine. The Dutchman made special blends and encouraged his customers to make a combination they would enjoy. The Dutchman had a very loyal clientele; the three men modeled the first Starbucks much like his little tea and coffee house. (Hill Companies, 1997.)

The original store only brewed coffees for tasters; they sold blends of coffee and ground them together. The co owners of the first Starbucks were still very close friends with the Dutchman and ordered their coffee beans and teas from him via the mail for a short time. Starbucks quickly became a success.
In 1972, the second Starbucks Coffee, Tea and Spice shop opened. By 1980, they had acquired four stores in the area. The company soon began to change; Zev Siegel left the company to pursue other interests. Jerry Baldwin continued to take care of the daily working of the company, while Gordon Bowker remained a co owner he was interested in a newspaper he purchased, and started a microbrewery. (Hill Companies, 1997)

Howard Schwartz:

Schwartz sold appliances for Hammarplast a Swedish company in the U.S. and noticed that Starbucks was out ordering a Macy's and other stores that he took care of for a certain type of coffee maker. Curious Schwartz asks for a meeting with the two owners of Starbucks.
Schwartz memorized by the knowledge the owners had on all types of coffee and the one and only way they wanted to conduct the way their business was run. Schwartz knew he wanted to be a part of this company finally even though the co owners of Starbucks was not sure they wanted to hire him gave
