The European Union needs Turkey urgently for very important reasons. The first reason is the geographical location of Turkey: Turkey is in two continents, Europe and Asia and is just across the sea from the Middle East, which leads to Africa. So, if the European Union wishes to have better access to the world market, Turkey would be a very strategic member providing new markets development and logistics for European businesses. This point with be explained further later on in this article.

Turkey, being a predominantly Muslim country, would be an asset to the European Union. Economic integration with Turkey can provide an economic deterrence to conflicts such as terrorism: any one attacking any location in Europe would be reducing the chances of millions of Muslims in Turkey by making their investments unsafe and therefore making them poor. This could be read as a satanic act: causing Muslims to become poor is an act of Satan! The location of the Islamic Cultural Organization (IRCICA) in Turkey is another valuable asset: the culture of ummah (unity, community and peace) can only gain a foothold in Europe with the EU membership of Turkey. This can use the strategic position of Turkey to drive terrorists off many continents thereby attaining world peace. This must also protect Muslim women using Islamic culture: al Qaeda's recent methods show that the erosion of Islamic culture is one of their tools! This trend must be reversed and all supporters of the erosion of morals must be investigated and properly punished.

The EU membership of Turkey is a vital medium for the resolution of the century old conflict with Greece over Cyprus. This should involve proper Consociational democracy in Cyprus and the use of the common European currency, the euro. This could also resolve the equally old centrifugal forces in operation within Turkey and ensure lasting peace between Greece and Turkey.

The economic benefits of the integration of Turkey into the European Union include increased economies of scale and penny stock advantages for European businesses. This constitutes capacity building for companies that are quoted on various stock exchanges in EU member States, creating jobs for the unemployed while reducing the crime rate, reducing trade deficits facing EU member states and generating funds for capital projects (through taxation and counterpart funding etc). This leads to more commitments from current members and a great urge for members and/or partnership from non members.
