of deep amphitheaters filled with flame-colored rock formations are the hallmark of Bryce Canyon National Park. Bryce is high in altitude with a scenic road traversing along the rim of Paunsaugunt Plateau. Appreciate the maze of pink, orange, and red spires, pillars and channels.

Zion Canyon lies at the heart of beautiful Zion National Park. This natural wonder was carved by the powerful waters of the Virgin River, then widened, sculpted, and reshaped by wind, rain, and ice. The lower reaches of the Virgin River meander quietly through the banks of cottonwood, oak and willow trees that grow beneath the gradually sloping walls at the start of the canyon. The river bank is bordered with wild meadows that, in spring, boast a profusion of wild flowers.

Numerous guided hiking tours are available, such as Emerald Pools Trail and Canyon Overlook Trail, which leads to the Great Arch. Half and full-day mule and horseback tours follow several trails in the park. The Sand Bench Trail leads to a high plateau that offers fine vistas. An easy, self-guided trail leads to Weeping Rock and its hanging gardens, which are full of wildflowers in spring.

Remember to choose a vacation rental in keeping with nature's theme. There are many cabins, villas, cottages and vacation homes that are secluded and located near the national parks.
