Dreaming of your perfect wedding? Dreaming of something old, something blue, something vintage, fabulous, and you? Creating the perfect vintage wedding soiree can be stressful and enjoyable at the same time. The main thing is to stay completely focused on the most important thing, you. This is all about you and your dream event, no demand is outrageous and no bridesmaid shall go unscathed. Now that we have that disclaimer out of the way, on to the planning.

The word " vintage" can be interpreted many different ways. When I think of a vintage wedding theme, I think of glamour, glass chandeliers hanging, Sinatra playing in the background, martinis and bourbon. If you're feeling me on this one, then read on and I will guide you to planning your most perfect vintage vintage wedding day.

Assuming you have selected your location already, let's move on to the next important thing..Wardrobe please! When choosing your gown, one way to channel your inner screen siren is by selecting a gown in satin with a bias cut, sheath or mermaid fit. Satin looks best in silvery white, champagne or ivory. try to avoid bright white , you'll look more Nurse Ratchet then Rita Hayworth.

Hair should be shiny, in loose waves and worn down. If you decide to wear half up half down, accessorize with a brooch to pull back, or fresh cut gardenias. Makeup should include lots of lashed, liquid eyeliner and red lips! Red lips is the ultimate vintage glamour must! Cheeks should be rosy and not bronzed. Nail color can be neutral but red does work best for this type of look.

Bridesmaids dresses can be of cocktail length and black. Black is a very elegant color and looks good on everyone. Bring out the gloves. No not the boxing gloves, although you might want to punch a few of your bridesmaids out... that's not what I mean. I'm talking long satin black gloves for your bridesmaids or you can even do short ones. Picture Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Allow no bridesmaid to have the same hairstyle as you. Make them all wear their hair pulled back in a bun or chignon. You are the center of attention and the last thing you want is Rapunzel Goldilocks upstaging you with her spun silk hair down to her knees.

Flowers for your big day can range in colors from white, pale pink, ivory ,champagne to deep reds and burgundy. Stay away from orange or yellow. Those colors only work well if you are hosting a hoe down or chili cook-off.

Wedding favors are what people are going to take home and remember about your wedding. Avoid candles with candy coated almonds or scented potpourri sachets that smell like your grandmother's Sunday dress from 1962. Keep it classy and vintage. Cigars for the men, and compact mirrors for the ladies.

On your invitation make sure to advise guests that it is a black tie affair, that way everyone can be a part of your vintage wedding day. Plus, you won't have someone show up in white jeans and a wife beater. Trust me it happens!
