There is nothing difficult about shampooing our hair! We all have to do it, and some of us do it every day. The truth is that you don't need to shampoo your hair every single day. While it is important to have clean hair, the hair and scalp do not respond to daily washing as well as you might think. Over shampooing can strip the natural oils that we produce on our own, and eventually can take away the shine, which contradicts the very reason some people shampoo too often for in the first place, and that is to make their hair shinier! It's a bit of a "Catch 22" so to speak!
If you just take a few minutes to understand which products will give you the best results for healthy hair and scalp, you will save yourself a lot of money and grief.
The first thing you need to know is what shampoo is right for your hair type. Some manufacturers have gone over the top with fancy names and packaging that cost a small fortune, but it really is the ingredients that make the difference. The basic ingredients in most shampoos are the same (Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a mild cleanser and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate is a bit of a stronger cleansing agent) but again, some manufacturers make it very confusing to know just exactly what to buy because of all the extra and often unnecessary fillers included in the product. If it were as simple as finding a shampoo for dry or oily hair, it would be a breeze! Nevertheless, some of the high-end manufacturers recognize our growing obsessions with hair in general, and have tapped in to it by embellishing their product line with formulas for every possible hair scenario under the sun! Dry, Damaged, Brittle, Thin, Color Treated, etc. The list goes on and on. They might have a shampoo for "dry and unmanageable" hair, and next to it, another shampoo for "over processed" hair! Now I ask you, how can the average person determine if their hair is "unmanageable due to dry weather conditions, or dry because of over processing! It can be exasperating. My suggestion is to stick to basics and use a shampoo for normal, dry or oily hair! You can check labels for ingredients to suit your specific interests but as long as you use a reputable shampoo brand, that has a cleansing agent and a moisturizer of some kind, it will do the job. Of course, oily hair for example, really doesn't need additional moisture in the shampoo, so just make sure you check labels.
Conditioners are another source of confusion, with some that tell you to rinse out, leave in, or leave on
