Assessing the responsibility of Israel in the Middle East crisis

by Rocket

Israel's responsibility towards the Middle East problems . . . Is Israel responsible because it retains a Jewish identity? By the same token are Jews responsible for Anti-semitism because they insist on being different, I mean Jewish?

Let's take the scenario that Jews behave, that they either convert to Christianity or become Muslims. Would that solve all the problems? Would one Muslim stop fighting another? Would Muslims and Christians stop fighting one another and breathe a sigh of relief and say, "Oh those bloody Jews, they have finally capitulated, now we can go about the business of believing what we want to believe without them interfering.?

Let's see, when Iraq attacked Kuwait, was that Israel's fault? The war between Iraq and Iran that went on for 7 years, was that Israel's fault? When Saddam Hussein massacred thousands of Kurds, was that Israel's doing? Let's see, when Syria leveled the town of Hamas (35,000 people) because of one or two dissidents, please tell me how Israel was responsible? What is going on in Darfur and what went on in Chechnya, can that somehow be connected to Israel?

The amazing thing is that Israel does feel responsible towards the Palestinians (Arabs who live in this region) and are doing everything short of national suicide to try to help them. But there are limits. If 100 million Arabs surrounding Israel cannot accept her existence, I think the problem is much bigger than a few million Palestinians who cannot make peace among themselves in order to take real steps out of the mire and begin to make peace.

The problem is the Arab and/or Muslim world that cannot and will not tolerate a foreign population in its midst. Israel does not have the oil or all the money in the world, and yet, the Arab world is supposedly helpless against the all-powerful Zionist entity. The reason the problems in the middle east are not being solved, is because surrounding countries do not want it to be solved and not because Israel stubbornly refuses to make efforts.

It was the Palestinian or surrounding Arabs who initiated all the wars in Israel; not even this last one was initiated by Israel, as it was Hizbollah who kidnapped Israeli soldiers and even started throwing katyushas on Kyriat Shmona. It was and is Lebanon that tolerated and allowed Hizbollah to live on their soil. Hizbollah who claims legitimacy by serving in the Lebanon parliament but refuses to follow the rules of the Geneva convention allowing the Red Cross to visit prisoners they say they are holding.

Jews in Germany assimilated. They said they were Germans first before they were Jews. Hitler and all of Germany blamed all the Jews for all their problems. He had the final solution, he would exterminate all those Jews. He even exterminated Jews who stopped being Jews, if he could find Jews had a distant relative from several generations earlier who were Jewish he would exterminate them.

Israel is a country of 7 million people surrounded by 100 million Arabs, who are occupying and note I say occupying most of North Africa, surely if we make accounts of who is responsible, shouldn't it be in proportion the number of people? Does a small country like Israel take on the responsibility for the entire region?

Imagine how different things might have been if the surrounding countries had not only opened their doors and embraced these former holocaust survivors, but had actually come to Israel's aid instead of causing further pain and destruction to Israel and themselves. Imagine how different all of this would have been if the surrounding Muslim countries could have learned a tiny bit of tolerance.
