Movie reviews: P.S. I Love You

by Kirsty Fowler

Created on: February 15, 2008

The film hit UK cinemas on the 4th January 2008 so for most people was one of the first films they saw in 2008. Same for me.
It's a fantastic film, hope you enjoy the review.

The Plot

When Holly and Gerry met in Ireland 10 years ago they left it down to fate to see if they should be together and when they meet again they fall in love, the sort of love everyone dreams of.

10 years on they barely have any money but are happy as can be, until tragedy strikes when Gerry is diagnosed with a brain tumour.

When he dies a couple of months later Holly starts to get letters, her first one on her 30th birthday. Gerry wrote them before he died to help her get on with her life.

Is It Any Good?

I think if you're going to like this film entirely depends on what kind of film genre you like. What annoys me that critics go and see this film, knowing that their genre is horror and then slate films like these.

Anyhow, it does depend on what genre of film you like and of course I decided to drag the opposite of myself down a horror fan. She had a tongue out pretending to puke through the whole thing which should have wrecked it for me but luckily it didn't.
Getting back to the film.

It's wonderful, the story is lovely and keeps you laughing and crying.
From the trailers I thought I was going to be a wreck when I walked out of the cinema but I wasn't as bad as I thought I'd be.

Film/Book
P.S. I love you was originally a book by Cecelia Ahern, which I actually just finished last night.

I know most people have read the book and either don't want to see it because they think it will wreck it and to be honest it probably will.
I have a little theory. If you see a film that is about to come out and was a book previously, watch the film first! Then read the book. If the book is good enough it'll be better than the film. If not the film was great.

I myself did that I watched the film on Saturday and finished the book last night. The book was bloody fantastic, excuse my language. I loved it. The story was so different from the film, but as the characters came into the book I could picture them in my mind better because of the
