Mom, isn't a beautiful day?
Mom, how much is two plus two?
Mom, do I really have to get up now?
Mom, I don't want to go to school.
Mom, what will you do without me?
I smile and say, I will find something.
I put you on the bus.
My little man, what will I do with out you?
I busy my self with the task at hand.
I think back to all the talks and lessons we have learned
Like how Life is full of choices, and you cannot have everything.
How it is impossible to be five when you are six.
How you cannot be home and go fishing at the same time.
I find myself wondering what will I do without you?
I cannot stop myself from thinking how quite the house will seem.
Suddenly shaken from my thoughts by the roar of words
MOM ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME!
What? Oh yes I am listening son
What is it?
I SAID I love you mommy
As I smile and wrap my child in my arms I tell him
I love you too son.
Thank you so much my boy, you are my pride and joy.
You taught me a new lesson.
Never am I to be so mixed up in what will happen down the road
I forget to look at the place I am at right here right now.
AND....
We snuggle in a little tighter
I smile out of pure contentment.
I am right here, right now,
WITH MY LITTLE MAN.
