Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day gift blunders by men

Ahh, Saint Valentine's Day. Flowers, chocolates, teddy bears, and...a blender? Many men painstakingly shop online, in malls, jewelry stores, and on street corners to find a suitable gift for their wife, girlfriend, or other suitable Valentine. Self-help websites on formidable search engines guide these lost souls in their quest for ultimate appreciation from their significant other. Arguably, many man stick to the expected flowers, card, and candy routine, some even throwing in a balloon or a nice dinner out. Some even stretch their wallet and splurge on necklaces, rings, even kittens and puppies. Unfortunately, many men fail on their lack of creativity, or execution of the gift-giving aspect of Valentine's Day. The unfortunate truth is - many men are completely clueless regarding gift giving at any time, Valentine's Day included. Three main blunders are common among the male gift-givers. 1) Giving their significant other something they NEED is a typical mistake. The entire theme of Valentine's Day is ROMANCE. Nothing says 'Romance' like a bagel capable toaster or an As Seen On TV Magic Bullet. Right. 2) Giving their significant other something HE wants is also an unfortunate trend. A 60 inch plasma screen TV with a TiVo for her to record Oprah and Grey's Anatomy...is probably a smokescreen for Monday Night Football and SportsCenter. 3) Being boring, predictable, nonattentive. Leaving a bouquet of gas station flowers on the kitchen table next to dirty dishes and your work clothes is not exactly the kind of thing that will woo that special love of your life. Giving a Valentine's Day gift is not an entirely overcomplicated process. Men - what do women want from you on Valentine's Day?

Something thoughtful, semi-creative, and FOR HER. It doesn't have to cost a thousand dollars, or even ten. If you're completely broke, do something thoughtful for her, like cleaning the house, or giving her a one-hour no-strings-attached neck massage. In any case, just remember the theme of Valentine's Day - romance, love, and feeling. Nothing says 'I Love You' like a personal from the heart message. Happy Valentine's Day!
