Tired of traditional turkey, pumpkin pie and dressing for Thanksgiving dinner? Your menu solution is now solved. Take a break from traditional menus and spice up Thanksgiving with pot roast, Cornish hen or ham instead of turkey. These make wonderful entrees for your main menu on Thanksgiving. Just like with the traditional Thanksgiving turkey these meats make great sandwiches for left overs.
Brew up a pot of tomato or potato soup as your Thanksgiving appetizer. This part of the menu is sure to warm up stomachs when the weather is cold on Thanksgiving. They are easy to fix while the pot roast, Cornish hen or ham is in the final stages of baking on Thanksgiving day.
Side dishes do not have to be traditional. Add some flare to your Thanksgiving menu with a broccoli and cauliflower medley or asparagus and brussel sprouts. Everyone is sure to enjoy black ey peas mixed with white and yellow corn as a filling side dish for your menu. Instead of traditional Thanksgiving dressing, serve up some wild, long, grain brown rice with a light gravy. rice goes well with the pot roast, Cornish hen or ham.
You'll want to end your non-traditional Thanksgiving menu with a few desserts. A great crowd pleaser for virtually any dietary restrictions is sugar free jello mixed with a light fruit, such as pineapple and topped with a spoonful of sugar free cool whip topping. Another favorite is pumpkin pie moose and a bowl of fresh fruit.
Whether on dietary restrictions or just plain tired of turkey, these non-traditional menu ideas are sure to not only be healthy but taste great. Eat wisely and enjoy your new Thanksgiving menu.
