Wedding dress ideas for a second marriage

Revised, not recycled!

When I started shopping for my dress for my second wedding, I realized how much I really dislike overzealous store help.

Let me start by telling you this-when you do go to look for that special dress-do not under any circumstances take your soon-to-be stepdaughter, or any other woman young enough to be your daughter, with you. I cannot tell you how frustrating it was to explain that I was the bride and not the "Mother of the"!

And also, avoid the whole "Mother of the" section of the store, unless old lace tablecloths and the color beige are in your top 10 favorites!

Ladies, do you feel like a giddy girl again? Are you bursting to tell everyone that you are "tying the knot"? Does he make you feel wonderful all over again? Well, of course you do,and you deserve to be a bride, the star of the show. So, do it. And do it right.

My favorite color is red. Love red shoes, red sweaters, red, red red! Red wedding dress, not so much-but I knew I wanted to wear some red, I just had to. My stepdaughter and my best friend would wear long red dresses (and yes they did have one very appropriate for an over 50 matron of honor). The men had red vests, ties and pocket squares for their tuxedos. And for myself, I chose a two piece dress, cream colored satin skirt (floor length) with a red bodice (satin done with beading and lace ties in the back). My good friend added chiffon sleeves to the bodice (over 50 cover those arms) and a fabulous over-skirt (also chiffon, trimmed with tiny red rosebuds). No veil, too girlish and not really appropriate. I kept with tradition, I did not let my fella see the dress until the ceremony. I had told him I was going to "knock his socks off!" and I did. When your new stepson looks at you and says "Wow, you look great!"
You picked the right dress.

So, what is your favorite color? Or will you choose his favorite?
Forget the beige, or off-white, and pastels! Live it up!
Choose your favorite color, your signature style! Have fun, be giddy and be the star of the day!

And then live happily ever after!
