The best thing to do with a cat lover is to consider the cat they have. If it is a pedigree cat then there are many gifts that feature a specific breed. If it's not a pedigree cat then think about how they relate to the cat - do they spoil it? Is it a true companion or just kept as something for company? Understanding the relationship will help when choosing a gift. Someone who occasional pets their cat (but still loves it) will appreciate a different gift than one who dresses it up, takes pictures and publishes then on the internet!
Here are a number of suggestions:
Picture Frame
First of all make sure their walls aren't covered with cat picture frames - yours might look a bit pathetic! You can get frames specific to breed, or get a personalized one. They can hang it at home or at work making it a talking point; and they love to talk about their cat!
Jewelry
There are many types of cat-related jewelry. The obvious one is a broach, but you can get a necklace, charms bracelet etc. This is a very intimate gift that will be appreciated and shown off to anyone who will listen. For a more personal touch, get it engraved.
Stationary
You can, of course, get a lovely set of note papers and envelopes in a cat theme. There are, however, many other options. A calendar, diary or even pens make a lovely gift for a home office. There are many, many calendar choices specific to breed or you can get one with those funny pictures that don't seem so funny the twentieth time you've seen them. You could even get them a coffee table book with pictures of the breed.
Apparel etc.
T-shirts, sweatshirts and caps are always appreciated. You can get one's with funny/witty sayings or with a picture of the breed (or both!). Coffee mugs, bumper stickers and more can always be found at websites like CafePress.com.
Art
An ornament, sculpture, picture or even a fountain will make their day. You could also get a digital photo of the cat in question and have it made into a canvas print.
Practical Stuff
Food bowls, automatic water dispensers, treat jars, collars, door mats (Beware of the Cat!) all make wonderful gifts.
Cat owners can be fun to buy for - just let your imagination roam!
