Poetry: A lasting love

by James Maycock

Created on: February 14, 2008

Each time I gaze into your eyes
There's a feeling I can't ignore,
And the amount I feel grows in size
And I know I love you more.

Each passing grain of sand drawn time
Pounds my heart until it's sore,
While every tick, tock and chime
Lets me know I love you more.

This aching in my soul and heart
Renders these emotions to the core,
But I know again it will start
And so I know I love you more.

Finally one day I'll have to rest
With soul beaten, bloodied and raw,
But even then I know I'm blessed
Because I'll still love you more.

So when the day of judgment comes
My crimes seen from my life before,
God can total all those complex sums
And find I could not have loved you more.
