A woman's guide to online thrift shopping

With four children and a tight budget, the Internet has become my saving grace when it comes to saving money on clothing, food, and other items needed in my home. Not only is it fun to breeze through thousands of Internet savings, but the prices can be dramatically lower than retail and in most cases, shipping and coupon codes can be used to save even more.

However, with the amazing amount of resources available on line and deceiving sale ads, it can be difficult to navigate this vast shopping mall of surplus savings. Ebay.com and Amazon.com have cornered the market for on line savings in the mass media sense but delve a little deeper and you can find a deal on just about anything your heart desires.

My favorite place to start is BigBigSavings.com. Under the forums section, you can find grocery deals, free offers, and on line coupon codes for shipping and discounts. This site has saved me literally hundreds, possibly thousands without exaggerating, especially on their clothing deals and the free offers are legitimate, ranging from free t-shirts and magazine subscriptions to free shipping and percent off codes for such stores as Disney and Victoria's Secret.

The ability to communicate through the forum is key with BigBigSavings.com since you can get feedback on sites and codes from other frugal shoppers and forum members are generous with sharing this information. BigBigSavings.com also does not sell off any of your information to marketing companies, which is something to be very aware of when discount shopping.

For example, at Christmas this year I used Victoria's Secret codes from BigBigSavings.com and bought one camisole top. With that top, I received a 5-piece lip gloss set, a Spice Girls CD, a scarf, hat, and glove set, and free shipping. In Victoria's Secret, I imagine these items could tally up to around a hundred dollars. How much did I get it all for? $10.

This is not my first savings, either. I am an old pro at it now and look forward to check the BigBigSavings.com board whenever I have a little extra to spend. Couponcabin.com and Dealcatcher.com are also two great sites for finding on line savings codes and deals. With members providing feedback, these sites are always up to date and most members will post upcoming sales as well.

Another excellent way to save on line is through various survey sites. Finding a legitimate site that does not sell your personal information is crucial. My favorite, again, is BigBigSavings.com forum for freebies. I have received
