I wonder what atheist would consider Atheism? It looks like a religion, it sounds like a religion, "quack, quack" I guess it must be a duck.
I saw one definition for religion as 'an organized system of beliefs that a group of people adhere to uniformly.' I don't know where I got that, but even if it didn't come from Webster's you've got to admit that it's a pretty accurate description for "religion." Why do atheist insist that they are not a religion. I mean not only do they criticize other religions but they write articles on Helium and put video clips on UTube to get people to see their side of it, and "convert" people from other religions to theirs.
Just because one believes in Jesus and another believes in themselves doesn't make one religious and the other some being beyond the need of some institutional form of rules and regulations. Some believe that Jesus is their Savior, sent to save their spirit from Hell. Some believe that we came from primordial goo and will die and become worm food. All the same, it's still religion. I mean Buddhist believe in nirvana and Muslims, Allah, the differences of beliefs does not make these groups religions. It's the fact that there are a group of people willing to bet the bank on what they believe.
Every person who believes with everything inside of them that what they believe is right, they will try to get others to buy into that belief. I mean if a person was a true atheist and truly didn't believe in any supernatural being then would they care if others believed in a supernatural being. A true atheist would throw their hands in the air and say 'I may think they are nuts but hey if it makes them happy,' because for atheist isn't that what it's all about. I mean if there is no God and we are all going to die and stay in a coffin then why not let others live in a fallacy that they believe and makes them feel good about it. What is the point of arguing if there is no point to life but to live it and die. Why, care that some will be miserable because they believe God hurt them or if they are happy if they believe God saved them. We will all be dead in about 60yrs anyway. What are atheist trying to save people from? Why do they care if some people think there is a Heaven or Hell. If it's all about living a life then why are atheist waist their time trying to "convert" others to believe the way they do.
If this was a debate about facts or a debate where the fundamentals of Christianity were up for discussion against atheism then this article would be written with a completely different format. I'm not a theologian, but I do love to study the Bible and about other religions too. But since this is a debate discussing the differences between atheism and religion, there isn't much to say since atheism is just as much a religion as Christianity, Muslim, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Sorry if that hurts anyone feelings atheist just don't go to church or have a central text, but they are a religion in the practical since of the word.
