Matching colors and textures in room design

3x5

That's the physical dimension of my room. Small and compact, easy to clean and spacious enough to sleep.

A bedroom is a place where your life can bloom. I strongly believe in this and can share a few personal experiences to reinstate the fact.

My room is my world. I'm quite content (you have to be) with the colour of the walls and curtains. The wardrobe and cupboard are made of walnut wood, giving the room a cosy atmosphere.

Now let us move to the some alterations that are needed to give a dazzling experience to the person who uses the room, which is me. Firstly, my tastes are personal and may not apply to everybody. Matching colours and textures is one area that I can go on and on about.

The double bed is too big for me, at least for now. I feel like a gold fish swimming in an ocean. I'd go for something that's comfortable; not too big or not too tight.

Generally, human beings are afraid of darkness, but I'm afraid of the only light fixed to the ceiling of my room. I've got a lamp shade, but the glare reflecting through it hurts my eye to such an extent that I feel like a Guantanamo Bay captive.

To further enhance the beauty of my nest, I wish to install tinted lamps and lights to cast a soft, illuminating effect. This way, I can have surreal and colorful dreams. Dreams that can take me into another world, more spacious than a 3x5. In that space, I can fly around like a bird and flap my wings so hard that I don't need to fear where I'd land. If I did land, I would - on my soft bed, made of soft feathers. But hang on, that's not what I really like. I like compactness - small is beautiful, they say, and that's what I like.

There are so many other things that might lend beauty and sustainability. Well, let me not moan too long about what's wrong in my room. This is the last one, so please bear with me. Pillow is a problem; it gives me nightmares. Insomnia has become my partner in bed! Pills and pilates haven't helped either. I'd love a nice, soft, thin pillow with a floral-designed pattern on the cover.

That's what I like in my bedroom. For now. Good night!
