What are MySpace trackers?

Applications have been coming out for social networks since they starting popping up on the internet years ago. In the past, if a person didn't have an account with myspace, you didn't know who was looking at your profile, only how many profile views you had. These days you have programs you can use to track the members coming through your profile.

In short, a myspace tracker is a device, usually a piece of code, that you can add to your profile used to track what other myspace.com users are checking on your profile.

Some people like to know who is visiting their myspace.com profile. Is this helpful in anyways? Well, if you make updates to your profile you can at least see if your friends have visited to see the updates. These are also useful if you want to see what people you don't know are looking at your profile.

Basically the code recognizes the person on your profile and will hold that information for you. You can then log into the backend of whatever program you are using to track and see the results. Some could be scary.

One program that I have used is called Trackzor. It is available for FREE to download at www.trackzor.com. They provide the code needed to "track" users. Once you have that installed on your profile, your friends will see a "you've been tracked" icon and you are then able to "see" who is lurking on your profile. The code captures information from their profile and gives you a snippet on the backend. Once you login into the admin section you can see who the people are and where they are from.

I really haven't used any other type of program for this so there could be some that are more in depth. Either way, the trackers all act the same way. Gathering information about the users that travel to your profile.

You can keep an eye on what people are looking at your profile. Maybe it's a crush from highschool or it might even be a person from the company you work for. Either way, they know they are being tracked, but that doesn't really mean anything to you. Their information is stored and you have access to it. Do what you want with it, at first it is quite addicting to keep an eye on it, but after a while it gets old.
