You've gotten the flowers, the chocolates and the wine all ready for the love of your life on Valentine's. What did you forget? As you look around your home your gaze meets the sad lonesome eyes of one of the greatest friends you've ever had. Your pet.
You didn't think of getting anything for your pet on Valentine's and the sad look on their face tells you that they know it.
Well grab the car keys and put your boots on because it's not too late to do something about that. Just because you've had lack luster Valentine's Days in the past doesn't mean your pet should.
The best part is that pets are easy to please. They love you unconditionally and will likely love almost anything that you get them. With them it really is the thought that counts.
In general you can make your K-9 friend's heart go aflutter with some basic gifts:
- A basic chew toy
- Denta-Bone flavored treats that dogs will love to chew while it cleans their teeth.
- Frisbees are always a hit with active dogs.
- There are plenty of cute little designer outfits for your special little girl at your local pet store.
- My personal favorite a "Chuck-It". A long plastic arm that picks up a slobbery tennis ball for you and then helps you throw the ball much further than you can on your own.
If you've got a feline friend you can stay in their good graces with:
- A wind up mouse that runs across the floor after you turn the key.
- A plastic ball with a little jingle bell inside of it.
- ANYTHING with catnip in it.
- Feline "Greenies" treats are a healthy hit with our cats.
- A good cardboard scratch pad for them to keep their nails from getting too long.
If you're able to work with a higher budget there are plenty of high end designer pet beds and "Cat Condos" on the market now that will pamper your pet in luxury.
In the end it isn't just the store bought gift that will make the difference in your pets life, but the gift of your love and attention that is most important of all.
The time you spend together on Valentine's Day may not only be important to your pet, but may just be their most important gift to you.
