Betta fish facts

loser will generally admit defeat and thus retreat, but in a tank there is nowhere to hide and therefore the winning fish will often fight the losing fish to its death. Housing a male and a female together alone in a tank is also ill advised as again the male of the species is likely to kill. If you're wishing to have more than one Betta Fish then the best advice is to house two or more of the female of the species together. Four is the best number as they tend to come up with some sort of hierarchy and live fairly peacefully together, whilst with two one will often bully the other. The other option is to house Betta Fish with different types of fish. Such fish as goldfish and paradise fish for example are not suitable for co-habiting with Betta Fish, however others such as loaches and corydoras catfish can happily live together in a tank with Betta Fish. You therefore have a couple of options open to you if you're wishing to have more than one Betta Fish which is obviously absolutely brilliant.

Betta Fish can potentially be perfect for young children wishing to be bought a pet. Their bright colors will no doubt keep your young ones entertained, and if properly cared for then you can find a long term friend with the Betta Fish. They have been known to live as long as six years, but typically they will live between two and five years dependent on how much they are cared for. If you love and care for your Betta Fish then obviously it can live a long and prosperous life and you can watch your beautifully colored fish in action for years to come. The Betta Fish is therefore a thoroughly worthwhile investment, but bear in mind the 'fact' that the fish are low maintenance is merely a common misconception and therefore if you are one that has little time for pets then the Betta Fish will not be the one for you.
