Hiding money at home isn't always easy. After all you have to hid it from people who might want it, but make sure that you don't hide it from yourself. There are many places that are available and it is only a matter of picking the spot that is best for you.
The Cookie Jar.
Many people have fancy cooking jars. Some are used for cookies, others just decorations. As long as you don't have a lot of people eating out of your cookie jar you can stick your money in a plastic bag and hide it in the cookie jar.
A Book.
There are lots of people who slip extra emergency cash in books. This isn't a bad idea as long as you remember which book and where you are putting it. If you put it in your Bible, place it near one of your favorite verses. If it is in a book, pick one that you remember, and pick a page number. Maybe use the amount as your page number. Such as hiding a fifty on page fifty of "Common Sense".
In and Under.
Sometimes the amount and how it is depends greatly on where you can hide it. Try hiding it in and under your decorations. If you have decorative boxes, baskets, or jars this works wonders. Or under some candle holders there is a concave surface where you can hide some money.
Hide it In Really Weird Spots.
If you are worried about certain people finding it really weird spots is a plus. If it is a child, pick the underwear drawer, they will see the undies and usually run. If it is a husband or wife (much harder) pick a spot they don't normally go. Maybe the tackle box, or the laundry room. If it is just others in general, put it in the bathroom in a plastic bag, behind the toilet (who volunteers to go there?!?)
The Bottoms.
Tape envelopes with money to the bottom of the trash cans and the bottoms of the laundry hamper. Or you can use the bottoms of the drawers or the underside of the desk.
Stuff the Mattress.
While we are past the days when it was a good idea not to trust the bank and to instead fill the mattress with out cash, you can use their hiding spot. Stick with between the mattress and the box springs instead of actually stuffing the mattress.
If you have a lot of cash to hide you might want to do it in several locations. This allows you to reveal a hiding spot to someone you don't want knowing it exists without fear of loosing your stash. You can also keep more money in the house without fear of someone taking it.
