Cultural Relations

Culture shock discussed

The Ladakhi people of Ladakh live in very high mountain valleys between the Himalaya and Karakoram. This is located in Northern India. The Ladakhi people are very interesting to learn about because of how their culture used to be. In the past, the Ladakh people had their own unique culture. They weren't like anyone else around the world that had jobs and stressed out over everything they did-making everything a competition. The Ladakhi people would spend more of their time caring about others than about themselves and their jobs. They were calm, patient people who never would get involved in conflict. They did not know what arguing was. Now, the Ladakhi people are like everyone else in this world. They started working like others and using technology. Their cultural ways ended up fully changing. Once the Ladakhi culture changed, more of these people started to not be so calm and nice. Now, they don't have much time to socialize and help the ones they love in this world like they used to, because they are starting to care more about their jobs. It was not the Ladakhi people's faults that their culture changed. Some people believe that it was the tourists and modern ways that caused a change within the Ladakhi's, which is entirely untrue. The Indian army is the first one to blame for Ladakhi's new cultural ways.

The Indian army had built a road to the Ladakhi's location because they wanted to link the region to the rest of the country. The Indian army made the wrong choice doing this because they should've known that this would cause tourists to come, welcoming the Ladakhi people to the modern life. They should've known that the Ladakhi people wouldn't want a change in their region because they were completely happy the way they were. It's cruel how the Indian Army just decided that they were going to build a road there, welcoming tourists that are nothing like the Ladakhi's to enter their region. This caused the Ladakhi's to learn how other cultures lived with their modern ways. It's not always bad to learn how other cultures live, but I believe that peaceful regions should not be welcomed to the outside world.

When the road was built, there were many tourists coming in from all over the world. This caused the Ladakhi people to feel very confused. It was almost as if these tourists were from a completely different planet. It's not the tourists faults that they did not completely know these people were so unfamiliar
